 Week 9 - Sunday Preview!

We're back in The Story with our Sunday Preview!  During the winter and spring these Sunday previews will come to you early on Friday mornings, and then There's More to The Story will come to you early Monday morning!

Today we're on Chapter 10 of The Story - Standing Tall, Falling Hard, and we're looking at the birth and calling of the prophet Samuel.  Samuel is a transitional character who bridges the gap between the bad age of the Judges, and the age of the Kings, starting with King Saul, which we'll cover next week.

So, read through Chapter 10, listen in to the video and the song, and we'll see you either on Sunday in church or online!  Here's the video:

And there's time for one more Christmas song - I think you'll really enjoy the beauty of this song!

Week 8 - There's More to The Story!

Today we wrap up our initial 8 weeks of The Story and take a break for Advent, before returning to The Story in January!  And today is the wrap-up for the small book of Ruth.  Listen in and enjoy a couple more lessons to this important Bible story!

And since next week starts Advent, listen in to Carolyn Jennings' wonderful "Climb to the Top of the Highest Mountain."  I love this every time I hear it, and the Luther College Choir just does it so wonderfully well!

 Week 8 - Sunday Preview!

This week we're on Chapter 9 - the Faith of a Foreign Woman, and the book of Ruth - a wonderful little story that takes place during the dark period of the Judges.  It's a redemptive story, where in the midst of a mess, God was working.  Listen in to the video, and worship with us on Sunday, listen to There's More to The Story on Monday, and then we take a break for Advent from these blogs and will resume in January.  Here's the video:

And here's a song I love - It is Well.  Enjoy!

Week 7 - There's More to The Story!

Today we look at Samson, who was the last of the Judges.  And in reality, he was really a bad guy.  Bad dude all the way around.  We often don't hear his bad side, but he was likely the worst Judge and God decided to do something else after the Judges because, well, they just weren't working!

Here's the thing about the video - actually it's in two parts because in the first part my battery ran out and I had to recharge it for the last 6 minutes!  So, listen to one, and then the other, and then to the song!

And here's a song that I think you'll like - it's Same God by Elevation Worship.  Use the song for a prayer, asking God to continue God's faithfulness with you!

 Week 7 - Sunday Preview!

We're back in The Story!  This week (week 7) we're looking at Chapter 8 of The Story with the period of the Judges - a deep, dark time for the people of Israel.  Listen in to hear how things get good, then go bad, then get good, and go bad, again and again.  So listen in:

And here's Josh Groban with an African Children's Choir - I think we all might need a pick up - and this should help!

Week 6 - There's More to The Story!

There's More to The Story!  Today we hear about Rahab, a prostitute who lives and "worked" in the walls of Jericho that played a pivotal role in the people of Israel overthrowing the city.  Plus, she's mentioned in the lineage of Jesus!  Amazing story, so listen in:

It's a little long, but I think you'll enjoy Vivaldi's Four Seasons - Autumn!  As the weather begins to change with some rain, leaves falling, and cold nights, enjoy the music and the pictures that go along with it!

 Week 6 - Sunday Preview!

This week we're looking at Joshua and how he took over the leadership reigns from Moses and brought the people into the Promised Land.  It wasn't a cake walk - they had to defeat 7 tribes/nations that were already there!  Lots of challenging questions about the nature of God throughout these stories - nonetheless, God kept working the Upper Story to bring people in their Lower Story into the land that God had promised them 600 years before through Abraham.  Listen in to the Sunday Preview!

And here's a jazz version of Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho that I think you'll really like!

Week 24 - There's More to The Story! We end our year long journey through the Bible with some words from John/Jesus to the church of E...
